North Coast Triathlon Club - Women in Triathlon

All training sessions taken by qualified coaches/teachers who are current competitive triathletes.

The Course

The next course commences in October 2011 and will run for @ 8 weeks. Registrations will open in September 2011 and all participants must be members of North Coast Triathlon Club (plus the cost of the WIT course - @$150.00) and Triathlon WA (see TWA website for costs) - http://triwa.org.au/

The course is strictly limited to 24 places. Included in the course is:

  • 8 swim sessions (pool entry extra but at a reduced rate)
  • 8 run sessions
  • 8 cycle sessions
  • Insurance while training and competing through Triathlon WA (Logbook must be kept)
  • Entry to Enticer Triathlon in December 2011
  • 3 free entries to North Coast Summer Aquathons
  • WIT/NCTC T-shirt
  • Pre course bike roadworthy check at Al’s Cycle Surgery, Heathridge – this is not a service but an indication that your bike is/is not road worthy.
  • Bike maintenance and clothing session at Al’s Cycle Surgery, Heathridge – 10% discount on all purchases by club members - Date TBC
  • Bike purchase packages – very competitive rates for purchasing a new bike from Al’s Cycle Surgery, Heathridge.

Cycling – Saturdays

The course commences in October 2011 (date to be confirmed) with a cycle session. Cycle sessions will take place on Saturdays from 6.30am regardless of weather and last for approximately an hour and a half.

Meeting place is at the car park by Dome Kingsley and then, time permitting, stay for a coffee after the ride

Requirements:

  • Roadworthy bike – should be checked by Al’s Cycle Surgery Heathridge
  • Helmet complying with Australian Standards
  • Water bottle
  • Suitable, comfortable clothes for cycling

Swimming – Tuesdays

Sessions are held at Arena, Joondalup on Tuesday evenings between 7.30 and 8.30pm. The sessions will begin with technique, building up to short sprints and endurance work.

Requirements:

  • Bathers
  • Goggles
  • Swim cap
  • Water bottle
  • Towel
  • Optional extras – kick board, pool buoy

Running – Thursdays

The running sessions are held on a Thursday evening at 6pm. They last for an hour and take place at Flinders Park, Broadbeach Boulevard, Hillarys. The run sessions are made up of interval and endurance work.

Requirements:

  • Running Shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Hat
  • Shorts/T-shirt

Aquathons

Aquathons are run by North Coast Triathlon Club and take place every second Friday at Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club. There are different combinations of runs and swims each fortnight.

After the event there is an informal BBQ and the bar is open. This is a great time to meet other club members. Information is on the club website.

Triathlon

The culmination of the course is a Triathlon in December 2011. Bring along friends and family to watch a great event. This is only the beginning of your triathlon career!

Once the WIT course is over, as a North Course Club member, you can continue your training with the groups that will have been training alongside you.

An end of course informal dinner presentation will take place on a Tuesday evening in December 2011 at The Greenwood Tavern. All course participants, coaches and helpers are invited to attend. Dinner is at own expense and therefore not included in course costs.
