The
Waikiki Enduro
Sunday 15th January 2006
The conditions were perfect for this unique event and there
was another great turnout of North Coasters. Of note is that
our Club made up a 3rd of the junior field and in that race
achieved many podium places which included winners in Kyra
Flynn and Phillippa Mascall. The Club’s future is looking
rosy.
The enticer was highlighted by the win by Ann Blatchford
and the return to racing of Website sponsor Mark Bergin.
The feature race was as exciting as usual and for some North
Coasters there were mixed emotions – Bill Whalley making
a courageous come back after his operation (only to be foiled
by a flat tyre) and Barry Silverlock having his first hit
out of the season after 2 set backs already. We saw some great
racing by Paul McSweeney as he diced with Leigh Willison and
we were enthralled by the brilliance of Beno (Ben “Robbo”
Edwards Rapley) who finished 20th overall. Danielle Cousins
is looking serious again and Sue Scott is getting back to
her best after a bad fall earlier in the season. All members
acquitted themselves well and can’t all be mentioned,
but these names just jumped out of the results sheet as huge
improvers – Sandy Crowe, Norman Black, Julie Di Biasi
and Kate Kelly.
Thanks to the crew that took down the trailer and ran the
Club BBQ.
