SWIMMING:
Arena Joondalup, every Tuesday evening 7.00pm to 8.15pm (all year round). This is a coached session so a lane hire and coaching fee of $7.00 applies. This is over and above the pool entry fee, which is well discounted to North Coast members (currently $2.90). A group often also meets on Sunday mornings at 8.00am (summer). Other coaching sessions available from club coach by arrangement.
CYCLING:

The club recommended rides commence from Al’s Cycle Surgery, Heathridge S/C. These are Club specific activities, but we do benefit from sharing the experience with many road cyclists on some of the other rides. The other venue starts are the Tuesday morning ride Woodvale S/C which starts at the Whitfords Tavern drive through, the Thursday ride which also starts at the Whitfords Tavern drive through. The commencement times are:
Monday evenings:

Tuesday mornings:
This is intended to be a “workout” ride, so it is solid and fast. The ride format at present is: We meet at the drive through bottle shop at Whitfords Shopping Centre (same spot as the Thurs ride). The most successful route so far in our trial runs – distance and time wise has been – 1 lap of the Hepburn loop then up the coast, all the way to Iluka looping around Antalya Vista/Malibu Ent./Romano Cres/ and then back down the coast to finish with another Hepburn loop.
At present we meet at 6.00am but this could change when daylight saving ends – possibly a 5.30 am start then.

Thursday mornings:
The Club Thursday morning ride seems to have “morphed” into a sometimes very fast training ride and this certainly goes against the original concept. So we have split into groups of like ability and ride a speed and distance accordingly. The ”Development Ride” aspect has certainly been resurrected for those that come along for just that, however this Thursday group has developed a good following of stronger riders as well (and this is good too because it gives the dev riders something to graduate to), so these guys will continue just as usual and get their hard work out. At the start of the ride a leader will be appointed to take the development ride and this person will negotiate a route that will bring this group back to Whitfords SC by 7.00am.
For those that haven’t participated if this ride before, here are the details:
Starting point: Whitfords Tavern Drive thru bottle shop.
Time: 6.00am sharp – we don’t have time to waste in the morning
Routes: We alternate between 2 courses

R 1: Hepburn Loop (Whitfords Ave, Hepburn Ave, Banks Ave, Endeavour Rd) depending on speed 2 to 4 laps (lap distance 10k)

R 2: Joondalup Ride (East along Whitfords Ave, Eddystone Ave, Joondalup Drive, Lakeside Drive, Shenton Drive, Connolly Drive, Burns Beach Rd, Delgado Pde, Silver Sands Drive, Ocean Reef Rd, Resolute Way, Constellation Drive, Hodges Drive, Ocean Reef Rd, Swanson Way, Venturi Drive, Ocean Reef Rd, & Dampier Ave all the way to Whitfords S C). R 2 is ridden turn about Clockwise and anti-clockwise.
Finish Point: Whitfords SC starting point.
Finish Time: We aim for 7.00am.

Saturday mornings:
1. (Al’s Cycle Surgery, Heathridge S/C ) Start 6.00am (fast ride) and 6.30am (slower ride) summer & winter (approx 60k) this group will usually split into two or three teams of like ability. (Always a coffee break after the ride)
2. (Al’s Cycle Surgery, Heathridge S/C). An alternative ride to be confirmed; (Start 7.00am (winter only June – July) (40-50km) off season fitness ride suitable for good juniors plus male and female members. (Always a coffee break after the ride).
RUNNING:
Flinders Park, Hillarys (click here for venue map) every Thursday evening (summer only, Sept - April) commencing at 6.00pm for approx 1 hour. This is a well coached session of interval training and is free to club members. During the winter this session becomes a series of supervised runs with the Sorrento Surf Club along the coastal walk way. Five different courses are available to choose from – your runs are timed and recorded. These sessions are run by the surf club, so we mix with the “surfies” for these runs and then have the facilities of the club bar should a drink of some sort be required afterwards.
